NELKE

Rote Nelke blüht im Garten,

Läßt verliebte Düfte glühen,

Will nicht schlafen, will nicht warten,

Einen Trieb nur hat die Nelke:

Rascher, heißer, wilder blühen !

Eine Flamme seh ich prangen,

Wind in ihre Röte rennen,

Und sie zittert vor Verlangen,

Einen Trieb nur hat die Flamme:

Rascher, rascher zu verbrennen !

Du in meinem Blute innen,

Liebe du, was soll dein Träumen ?

Willst ja nicht in Tropfen rinnen,

Willst in Strömen, willst in Fluten

Dich vergeuden, dich verschäumen !

CLOVE

Red carnation flowers in the garden,
Can love blossom scents,
Will not sleep, does not want to wait,
A drive only has the carnation:
More rapidly, more hot, more wild to flower !

A flame I see resplendent,
Wind race in her blush,
And she trembles with desire,
A drive only has the flame:
More rapidly, more rapidly to burn !

You in my blood inside,
Love you, what is your dream?
Want not to drop chutes,
Want in streams, want in floods
You waste, foaming up now!
